Solvents / Cleaners

Post by FX3D » Sun Jun 18, 2017 6:53 pm

Hi, I am new to 3D printing but wish to share a couple of things that work for me concerning solvents & cleaners.

I am currently only printing PLA and have found the best way to stop your prints from moving on the bed is NOT to use a glue stick but use a thinly spread layer of Gorilla wood glue onto masking tape (my bed is at 50C).

It sticks solid and have never had a print move since using this method, there is some film once you manage to get it off the bed ;) but i use isopropyl alcohol to clean this

Of course you MUST make sure the bed is level & I do 2 passes on the perimeter just to get the filament flowing steady, but that is probably due to cheaper components used on my DIY built printer.

This is the stuff I use:

Hope this helps someone.
