stepper motors for 3d printer???

Post by joseben » Mon Mar 05, 2018 8:50 am

Hi guys, I am laying out plans to build a 3d printer (Dolly).
Almost everythings about set, but I can't find the right stepper motors, there are many out there, I am getting confused on which to buy.
Can you guys recommend the best one with the specs(mini-holding torque, voltage...) and also which drivers I should choose for them ( A498
or DRV). I went through stepper motors in Reprap. And got more confused
At least, list out the things I should have on the mind like torque, voltage, amps, resistance... when choosing one.
I am planning to use ramps as the controller.

Thank you

https://de.aliexpress.com/item/5pcs-lot ... autifyAB=0

these work fine and are incredible cheap

i use them with a ramps with A49XX
and with a mks sbase with marlin and the onboard DRV

both work fine

but i ordered 4 tmc 2130 for the moving axsis.

I am currently upgrading my dollies to a mk3 style frame

the mk2 with threaded rod is not so good.

Moorviper is right. Just do a search for Nema 17's. A4988's are also pretty standard. The one downside of a MKS type board is that they are more expensive than an arduino and RAMPS. Replacing either of the latter is a very cheap endeavor. If this is your first printer, you may be safer with the separate boards.

I run small 36oz/in nema17s in a small reprap printer I made. They work fine. I can get 50-60mm/s using PLA.
Typical ones were in the 40-42oz/in range.

I got them from stepperonline.com, they have ship points worldwide.

Some has problems with the DRV drivers
I had no issues with this drivers until now.
The torque is really good.
