Tool for cutting spring steel sheet?
After seeing Printrbot Simple Metal heated bed kit I quite like the spring steel+PEI surface so I decided to make my own.
(yes, yes I know Prusa just launch MK3 with MK52 heated bed but this is for my own printer)
So the question is what tool that can cut spring steel sheet to the size that I want without jagged edge.
The sheet is 0.8mm thick(same as Printrbot one)
Will Dremel with cutting disc work?

If you can find some facility with WaterJet that would be my weapon of choice, and one it shouldn't cost much. I'm planing to do the same for my machine (spring steel + PEI). Just wondering how thick sping steel sheet and how thick/thin PEI sheet should I buy for 400x400mm print area. Any suggestions?

I think I can find nibbler head for electric drill but if the cost of waterjet is not much it might be better.Tomasz Stawarz wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2017 7:26 pmIf you can find some facility with WaterJet that would be my weapon of choice, and one it shouldn't cost much. Printrbot use 0.8mm steel sheet, not sure about PEI but I plan to use 0.5mm on mine.

Ronin do you have that PEI in your hands? Isn't it too brittle? I'm asking because I would also like to do the same thing, or better to be able to buy spring steel PEI coated plate cut to my measurements or cut by water jest according to my design. Do you live somewhere in EU? Maybe we would be able to find someone that would be able to coat spring still for us and cut it, also maybe there would be more people interested in such a thing? And another one thing i wrote e-mail to one waterjet company in Poland where i live and asked them if and how much would they demand for cutting plate in dimensions you asked about. I would also recommend cutting it not just into square but with some corners or latch that would make it easier to position it onto heatbed and than remove it effortlessly.

It seem that Printrbot use quite thin PEI sheet on their bed so it's flexible and not seperate from steel sheet.Tomasz Stawarz wrote: ↑Thu Sep 28, 2017 8:31 pmRonin do you have that PEI in your hands?
