Cheap cartridge filament: CoLiDo PLA review! #Filaween

But what about the basics? CoLiDo’s cartridged PLA filament comes with a surprisingly good performance in one category.

Cheap, basic PLAs, that’s what most people actually print most regularly, right? One of the offerings here is Colido 3D’s PLA for roughly 26€ per kilogram. This particular one came in a 500g serving in a cartridge, which offers little value since it does not have any sort of of moisture seal at the seam and makes respooling filament that’s already been pulled out impossible without creating a mess inside. This PLA is available for the same base price on traditional spools, which let you skip the extra 280g of plastic waste per 500g of filament.

Print quality at 210°C on the nozzle and 55° on the PEI bed is good with a tendency of stringing, and average performance for bridges and overhangs, while the strength tests result in the highest rating yet of 56kg, with parts taking noticeably more force to destroy than other filaments. The heat test went as expected for a PLA, and ease of use was good, with no irregularities when it comes to warping or other issues. Overall, the Colido3D PLA is a good performer with exceptional strength and good value, independently of your choice of a spool or cartridge.
