Affordable and tough PETG from DAS FILAMENT review! #Filaween

“Good” or “strong” doesn’t have to mean “expensive”. This is DAS FILAMENT’s PETG filament.

DAS FILAMENT PETG – an all-caps, made-in-Germany copolyester that i tested in the bright green version. No matter what color you pick, they all cost 29€ per kilogram and can be printed onto e.g. a glue-stick covered heated bed set to 75°C and the nozzle at 230°. As usual, i also used the part cooling fan at a fixed 20%. Print quality is practically identical to other copolyesters, with perfect bridging on all steps except the longest one, a fairly low tendency of stringing and overhangs that all print, but like to curl up on themselves on the more extreme angles. This makes for an overall respectable quality score of 16 out of 20. What comes next will surprise you.

Even though DAS FILAMENT PETG isn’t advertised as anything special, it still smashes the strength tests. It’s quite a stiff material, especially considering it’s a copolyester, but it still flexes quite a bit before breaking. Combined with the good layer adhesion, this results in a top-tier 72.5kg combined strength rating, which is currently only beaten by Taulman 910 and Polycarbonate. Heat resistance is average for a copolyester. So overall, the DAS FILAMENT PETG would be well-suited as a day-to-day choice or for printing mecharnically strained parts on a budget.
