Re: Mini Rambo 1.3a + mk42 aluminum clone Firmware

Do you mean marlin, or prusa firmware (which forked from marlin a long long time ago)?

Marlin will work just fine with an aluminium MK42 lookalike, but the prusa firmware will not calibrate with one. It looks like a MK42, but isn't.

Re: Stringing with black PETG on Prusa MK3

PETG is always a bit stringy. Try slightly lower temperatures; not too low or you’ll get poor inter-later bonding. Your test is a bit harsh though; a tiny island then a large travel brings out the absolute worst of stringing. On a real world print the results might be more acceptable. You can easily...

Re: Smoking Mosfet

Depends on your mosfet whether it will cope. But you can limit the duty cycle in PID mode which will probably allow you to get away with it.

Re: Did Thomas ever record the LCD-guide?

The reprapdiscount full graphic controller doesn’t connect to the SPI port on RAMPS, it uses software spi instead. Part of the reason why it’s so slow.

The SD card does use SPI but that really shouldn’t matter; you should be able to use it in conjunction with TMC2130 without a problem.

Re: Prusa firmware for RAMPS Prusa i3 clones with MK42 beds

The graphic lcd won’t work in prusa fw. Too much code has been removed. There isn’t the code space left for it. As an aside, personally I don’t see the point. The software spi update cycle uses up a large percentage of cpu cycles leaving much greater risk of glitches and issues while printing. All y...

Re: Missing extrusion at the start of some layers

This is probably a symptom of either temperature issues (possibly way too hot) or inappropriate retraction settings. What’s. happening, by the sound of it, is that after a travel move there is a small deficit of plastic in the nozzle, which causes underextrusion. What temperature / plastic and retra...

Re: TMC2130 w/LCD

The LCD doesn’t use the hardware SPI port (on a reprapdiscount character lcd it’s a 4bit parallel interface, on the graphic LCD it’s software sort-of SPI). The real SPI pins go to the SD card. If you have SPI issues with the SD card then you probably have a problem with the CS line either to the SD ...

Re: Prusa firmware for RAMPS Prusa i3 clones with MK42 beds

Looks promising. I’ve been watching the mk3 firmware but it’s been a long way from able to compile for a Rambo with TMC2130 and the other mk3 bits turned off. All the new functionality in the firmware is enabled via compiler #defines but there were a lot missing which resulted in failed compiles. I’...
