Out of context Tom quotes

Just write anything Tom said in a live-stream that sounds a bit weird or that you found fun

"Dear Anet, this is stupid" E-10 live-stream
"High tensile my ass" E-10 live-stream

Maybe some day we'll get tee-shirts ;)

Re: Relationship between nozzle size, layer/nozzle height, print quality, print speed

You're right about layer height. Yes the height will still be 0.2 because it is how hight the nozzle is, the slicer will take care of adjusting your extrusion width based on your nozzle size and extrusion multiplier (the more material you push through, the wider the line). Wall thickness should be a...

Re: Relationship between nozzle size, layer/nozzle height, print quality, print speed

As chumm stated Z is the closest thing we have to resolution and X/Y resolution is practically irrelevant. When the slicer talks about 0.1/0.2/0.3mm this is indeed your layer height. Again, as chumm explained X/Y resolution depends on the micro-stepping and is theoretically too small to take into ac...

Re: Tom's opinions on CAD software

I know Tom uses Onshape which is an online CAD tool, as chumm mentioned you could have a look at Fusion 360. I use Fusion 360 because it's extremely powerful (you can design anything with it, make renders and run simulations), it can be used for parametric and freeform modeling and it's free. If you...

Re: Where do you all post your STL's nowadays?

I post everything on thingiverse, I started by using thingiverse and didn't want to bother re-uploading and managing multiple accounts.
I know thingiverse is property of makerbot and as such not as *free* as youmagine or other platforms but it's easier for me.

Re: Introduction Thread #printcave

Hi, I'm a student from France,I've been into 3D printing since 2010 and I got my first 3D printer 2 years ago (a Prusa clone called the Xi3). https://i.imgur.com/jsUB0pJ.jpg I do a lot of 3D modeling using OpenSCAD and Fusion 360. I mostly print functional objects that I designed or downloaded. I al...

Re: Show your printer(s)

I have a Prusa Xi3, bought it almost 2 years ago. https://i.imgur.com/jsUB0pJ.jpg I made a custom heat sink as the (non existent) old one was overheating my extruder. I'm working on adding a part cooling fan and trying to fix ripping (might be due to the rubbery sheet under it). I might try to add a...
