Re: Parts suggestions

Thanks for the replies guys! I already ordered my power supply and stuff so I'll stawrt with 12v with ramps and upgrade it shortly after to mks and 24v. I also like the idea of using m8 lead screws for the vertical carriage..I already ordered my m5 threaded rods, so I'll use them until I upgrade. An...

Re: Need opinion

Nice. Thanks. I'll probably go the mks route then. I've already got all my a4988s lol. I've never heard of the polulu drivers. I may get an mks base then since the drivers are built in. Does it still need to run through an arduino or no?

Re: Need opinion

Nice. I didn't see that this had replies. I posted a while back. I just made another posts talking about which parts to buy better lol. I literally just bought my ramps and arduino an hour ago. I wanted to get something better but wasn't sure what or how it would fit in. Ive heard a bunch of bad thi...

Parts suggestions

Hey guys, I've seen a few posts about different parts that have been helpful...but I'm looking for some overall suggestions. I posted a while back..I decided to build a dolly printer. I don't necessarily want cheapest, but want decent quality so I've started with that build but am looking for ways t...

Re: Need opinion

I haven't ordered yet. That's awesome. Thanks! It's a little more than the set I found on Amazon but if its higher quality. And comes with decent bearings, I'd much rather do that.

Re: Need opinion

That sounds great. I really appreciate it. I'll stick with the dolly. Upgradability is what I was looking for. Where do you guys buy your smooth rods from? I actually found a listing on Amazon that doesn't seem too bad. It's the chrome gcr15 8mm two 370mm two 350mm and two 320mm for 35.99 with 5.99 ...

Re: Need opinion

Yeah, I definitely would rather build the dolly. I've already bought parts for it. From what I was reading, it was a guide to build the cheapest possible printer so I wasn't sure about the quality. I don't mind spending a little more to make it better. I don't like the wooden frame that much, but af...

So I've been looking at getting a 3d printer for a while. I am trying to decide whether to build Tom's "dolly" 3d printer or purchasing something like the anet a8. What do you guys think would be the better decision? I want a decent quality printer, of course.. But I don't want to spend $500 on one....

Re: Any ideas on how to raise funds for a 3d printer?

That's an odd question to ask.. Sounds like you're just looking for a handout. Where is the fun in that? Good luck. There are PLENTY of ways to make money. The obvious first one, a job. If you can't work, then you have plenty of time to spend online. Amazon mechanical turk was a great suggestion. I'...
