Re: TMC2130 w/LCD

The LCD doesn’t use the hardware SPI port (on a reprapdiscount character lcd it’s a 4bit parallel interface, on the graphic LCD it’s software sort-of SPI). The real SPI pins go to the SD card. If you have SPI issues with the SD card then you probably have a problem with the CS line either to the SD ...

Re: Prusa firmware for RAMPS Prusa i3 clones with MK42 beds

Looks promising. I’ve been watching the mk3 firmware but it’s been a long way from able to compile for a Rambo with TMC2130 and the other mk3 bits turned off. All the new functionality in the firmware is enabled via compiler #defines but there were a lot missing which resulted in failed compiles. I’...

To lube, or not to lube. That is the question.

Re: Hardware Second Hand

If you’re buying a second hand prusa frame, why not get a real i3 water cut aluminium one? People who have upgraded to haribo/zaribo often sell their frames.

Over time you could evolve your dolly into a pretty respectable clone.

Re: Cheapest prusa clone - question about firmware

Marlin latest stable.

No point using old marlin.

Prusa firmware you linked to won’t work on ramps. My fork of prusa firmware will work on ramps, but really you still need a mk42 bed.

Re: Mini Rambo vs MKS board?

The issue, if you want to call it that, with the MK42 is that the bed levelling with the induction probe relies on the 9 calibration points on the bed. All these are is round copper pads, but they are surrounded by copper heater traces. The sensitivity of an inductive probe varies with the type of, ...

Re: Zits occuring on every layer

As an experiment, might I suggest you try:

1.8mm retraction
0 extra restart
0 vertical lift
60mm/s retraction speed
0.2mm coast
2.0 mm wipe

And compare how that turns out.

Re: Distinguish PLA from PETG filaments?

I’d say try and print with it. If it’s printable about 180/190 it’s PLA, if not it’s probably PET

If it’s translucent it’s probably PET. If it’s brittle it’s probably PLA.

Re: Zits occuring on every layer

Personally I’ve never found the need for extra restart, either positive or negative. These issues are worse with PETG (I’m not sure is really possible to stop zits with PETG) and they are worse if you’re printing too hot (because the plastic is less viscous). You don’t detail exactly what you’ve tri...
