Re: 3d Benchy, rough bow, but why...
Seam position, I learned something new today. Never thought of it, but indeed, somewhere the printer connects the end to the start of the line. I will have a look into this setting. I printed a new version, but this time very slow for the outer shell, the print looked better, not perfect, but less "...

so cooling, mmm, now how can I address that best, dont know if adding another fan is easy, I can try with en external fan first.
Print speed is 40mm/s btw, which is not too fast. I can try tocut this in half and test it with 20mm/s, I could also try to lower the temp to 190deg c

3d Benchy, rough bow, but why...
Hi, I have this strange behaviour and I am trying to figure out why. I printed the 3d benchy with a 0.2 and 0.1 layer height. The 0.1 one has a deformation at the lower bow, feeling rough at the touch. The 0.2 one does not have this problem, it does have a few artifacts. Some details - Using a prusa...

Re: How to print a 1 cm line as 1 cm?
thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention, I have a prusa i3 mk2s kit. And I did the extruder calibration. Still wondering what the best approach would be to calibrate the printing dimensions compared to the dimensions in my CAD model. Perhaps print the xyz cube for each filament and adjust the % si...

How to print a 1 cm line as 1 cm?
hi, Watching Tom's video's he is no fan of the xyz calibration cube. I kinda understand why, as there are a lot of factors defining the xyz calibration. Tuning 1 thing could make another thing worse. At least this is what I thought Tom meant. Now I am designing some things in fusion 360 where dimens...

Re: Relationship between nozzle size, layer/nozzle height, print quality, print speed
Thanks. Things have become clear concerning the Z en X/Y resolution. Funny how Z resolution is not dependent on X/Y resolution. You'd expect when printing in a 0.20 layer height, you would also want to use the 0.2 nozzle, so height and width are the same. But in practice this doesn't seem to matter ...

Re: Relationship between nozzle size, layer/nozzle height, print quality, print speed
But how does this work? >>the slicer will take care of adjusting your extrusion width based on your nozzle size and extrusion multiplier (the more material you push through, the wider the line) >>Wall thickness should be a multiple of your nozzle size If the slicer can define the line width, why is ...

Re: Relationship between nozzle size, layer/nozzle height, print quality, print speed
Oh wait, I think i mixed up the 80% thing, it should be layer height. So a nozzle size of 0.4 can have a max layer height of 0.32 (80%) mmm, how does that work, when the width is wider, say 25% more, so 0.5mm, will the height still be 0.2 (when selecting this in the slicer) ? or is this something th...

Re: Relationship between nozzle size, layer/nozzle height, print quality, print speed
First of all, thank you all for your replies, things are becoming more clear. So to summarize - 3D printer resolution ≠ 2D printer resolution. When advertising a 3D printer, they talk about 100 micron, this is layer height - X/Y resolution is defined by X and Y steps per mm where the width is define...

Relationship between nozzle size, layer/nozzle height, print quality, print speed
Hi, I must admit, I am new to 3d printing, but you probably got that from reading the topic title. Been reading and watching youtube's for several weeks now, and I recently build my prusa mk2s printer, even got a few good prints from it. I am however still learning about all the various print settin...
