Re: MK42 bed clones finally available?

Given that the bed takes over 15 minutes to heat to 95°C, more like 30 mins for 100°C and over 100°C is basically impossible, I would have assumed there to be no difference in this regard between the original bed, and the clone? THing is, my original Mk42 heats up to 90C quite fast. I never timed i...

Re: Prusa style vs CoreXY

1 I want to build it myself (works out cheaper anyway) I certainly dont want to stop you from designing and building your own printer, but, if we're being honest, you're not likely to end up cheaper. If price was your main motivation, I would tell you to buy that CR10. But it will not give you the ...

Re: MK42 bed clones finally available?

I seemed to recall the original bed had 'integrated' standoffs in the middle, but I just looked, and it seems I remembered wrong. Yeah, I should be fine recycling the standoffs and screws from the original bed. I guess the problem will be waiting...

Re: MK42 bed clones finally available?

I wish I had seen this thread before ordering. I ruined my original prusa MK42 bed, and I was slightly appalled prusa charge 94 euro for a replacement. So I googled for a clone and ordered the Orballo. A week later, still not shipped, and apparently I can expect to wait a lot longer. Whats worse, is...

Re: Lets talk Glue

Dovetails would be nice, but in this case, unfeasible and virtually unprintable: https://thingiverse-production-new.s3.amazonaws.com/renders/20/5e/ec/97/1a/ed08fac0113681d4feecf120593ae45a_preview_featured.jpg The top of the track pieces are the bottom of the print, because the other side has spikes...

Re: Lines in print. Stepper resolution problem?

kfazz, Im having a real hard time spotting a difference between those prints, they both look fine to me, but whatever problems you thought you had, pale compared to fransjans'. Have a look here: http://doc.3dmodularsystems.com/how-to-improve-fix-z-woobble/ Look at those pics, they look exactly like ...

Re: Lines in print. Stepper resolution problem?

Looks like Z wobble to me. If you change the Z axis, do you see the rods moving at at all? Maybe the coupler isnt aligned properly or the rod not straight. These prints do look promising though, if you can sort out that issue.

Lets talk Glue

Im printing a tank, and needed to glue flexpla to regular pla for the profiles on this track: http://i.imgur.com/S6zXWC9l.jpg I tried CA glue and epoxy, and found both really bad. UHU Por was a little better, but still not good. I googled and found this test of glues for 3D printed PLA: https://www....

Re: Smoothing PLA

Many people have tried it. So far, Im yet to see something that actually works. Closest is probably polysmooth PLA filament which can be "smoothed" with alcohol. But from what Ive seen, it does more to make it shiny than actually smooth it like abs/acetone.

What does work is fine grit sandpaper :).

Re: Prusa i3 Clone Build Log

What was the layer height you used on the dragon? For reference, since I just printed the same object in the same color on the original MK2S, here is mine in 150 micron, full scale (100%) : http://i.imgur.com/ygE71K5h.jpg http://i.imgur.com/NFBVeKrh.jpg Of course, it will look better simply because ...
