Gcode Extruder Motor

Post by fntsmn » Fri Jan 12, 2018 2:06 pm

Hi guys, I never really play too much with gcode yet, so I was wondering if I would like to have the extruder motor to always rotate at the same speed during the print what I'm supposed to change in the gcode? (of course I will remove the retraction).

Thank you for the help in advance.

Not quite sure what you're trying to do, but as far as I know, you cannot change your extruder speed. Your extruder rotates at a rate that cause X amount of plastic to be extruded evently over X amount of distance.

You can set the extrusion rate steps/mm, with "M92 E100" to get 100 steps per mm. Indirectly, that sets the motor speed when you extrude. Does that help?

Changing the steps/mm of the extruder changes how much filament gets pushed through when it's told to extruder X amount of filament over X distance. The steps/mm of the extruder is something that you have to calibrate and then set in firmware. Once properly calibrated, changing it will cause under extrusion or over extrusion.
