Polar printers

Post by Magnetbug » Tue Aug 28, 2018 1:27 pm

Hi everyone,
I am quite new to polar 3D printers, and I was asked to manage a college project which this project is about design of polar 3D printer. I won't get into details of the project but I couldn't find any set of firmware and slicer that are open source.
Please share your knowledge on the subject.
Thnx in advance.

Good question. I'll twitter about it on Toms account, maybe someone knows something.

There are two options. One, Use a post processor to do the Cartesian to Polar conversion. This is how I did it in the Polar3D printers. The 2nd option is to use the R360 fork of Marlin firmware.

Hi,

I´m currently working on a big polar printer and found klipper to be a good alternative to bypass the limited 8 bit processing or the huge file size of converted code.

Kevin, the lead developer kindly wrote a demo code for polar printers a few weeks ago. There is still much to do but it prints very well already.

I can support you through the setup process of these type of printers if neccessary.
