What have you guys done about fitting the larger mk8 gear to the prusa extruder?

Just printed my extruder and saw per toms video it doesn't fit. I drilled the holes for the motor mounts out to 4mm to get it better, cant go much bigger.

Has anyone re designed it with the feed holes aligning with a mk8 gear, or gone different designs?

I'm using an e3d hobgoblin drive gear on mine. It's a much better diameter and works ok without any mods.

Might give this a try:

I've seen at least one other on thingiverse that I tried out and it fixed the problem for the mk8 gear.

So this is a standard MK2S extruder body with the e3d hobbgoblin. as you can see, the filament path is almost straight and it's working fine for me. PLA, ABS, PETG and FormFutura EasyWood all printed fine so far.

So after realizing I miss ordered my belt drive gears and had t2.5 drive gears I hit up banggood for some new drive gears and also found some 8mm extruder drive gears.

https://www.banggood.com/2Pcs-Reprap-Me ... ds=myorder

cheap, well made and a little smaller than the MK8 drive gear, just under 1mm smaller, seem to work better with the drilling of holes and this gear.

you just need to fit the gear to the motor before you bolt the motor on, ill grab a pic soon
