noisy and twitchy steppen motors

i have build my own 3d printer. it is an corexy printer and i have a problem with the z axes. the z axes is build with 2 steppen motors and an leadscrew with 8 mm pitch when i want my acuracy to be good i have to put the motors on 5 steps per mm. now i have the problem that the motors are realy loudly buzzing and they also feel realy twitchy. i dont now what to do about it all i can think of is using the stepper driver with an microstep. i dont now how to do this. can anyone help me with this?

Hi Dirk Jan,

Can you tell us some more about your set-up? What board are you using? Drivers? Are you SURE you are using 5 steps per mm? Usually a NEMA 17 (I'm assuming you are using them) takes 200 steps per revolution. An 8mm pitch leadscrew means that one revolution creates 8mm of travel. So, 1mm travel would require 200/8 steps, or 25 steps per 1mm.
